Re: Groups launch campaign calling for independent review of pipeline safety
Alberta's pipelines are springing leaks on almost a weekly basis now. The province has given the oil, gas, and pipeline industry an easy ride for decades, and the combination of years, sheer number of pipes and the lax oversight is making itself evident.
But if you think regulation and oversight of pipelines is bad in Alberta, you should have a look at BC. Problem is, its really hard to take a look at BC, because the Oil and Gas Commission, which is charged with pipeline permitting and oversight, is an impregnable black box.
British Columbians should be joining the Alberta groups, or copying the Alberta groups, and demanding an independent review of pipeline safety in BC.
